Its Basket Material Gathering Time
Autumn is a perfect time to collect your basket making materials. Grapes and fruit trees are being pruned, grasses are being trimmed and summer plants are removed. Lots of these can be used to make baskets.
The Shipwrights Cottage grape vines have been getting their annual prune and the long canes are being twisted into rings and left to dry. These rings are prefect for making tension baskets and lovely melon baskets. Other finds at this time of the year are grasses, long pine needles, corn husks, melon vines and autumn leaves.
